After a long break, the Martin Streule Jazz Orchestra is going on a world premiere tour again in 2017 with the new program “Chamber Songs”. The Berlin-based Israeli singer Efrat Alony will also be taking part.
“Chamber Songs” is a collection of songs about everyday ups and downs, wishes and dreams, sadness and hope.
The music is very chamber music-like and follows the idea of “acoustic sound design” inspired by “music concrete instrumental”. The colors of the quiet, instrumental sounds and noises at the edge of nothingness are used above all.
Thus, despite the large instrumentation, subtle and fragile sound sculptures are created in which even the percussion primarily has a sound-painting effect and forms the finest sound collages around the ensemble.
The “Chamber Songs” are the most personal music Martin Streule has ever written for his orchestra, and they put one of the most fascinating and colorful voices of modern European jazz at the center.
