In the period from 1999 to 2002, the MSJO’s program was supplemented by arrangements of standards such as AUTUMN LEAVES, BLUE IN GREEN and SMOOCH, but also by original compositions such as AUTUMN WALTZ NO 1, RAINING and A SHOT SKETCH OF A SHORT STORY.

Looking back, it was a time that was very formative for the development of the band (and its leader). During the various rehearsals and concerts, a body of sound was formed that increasingly became a unit and gave rise to a characteristic, unmistakable ensemble sound.

“ For four years now, the young Bernese composer and arranger Martin Streule has been doing something quite impossible: his own big band. A stroke of luck. ”
